General

Can you quote online, or by email?

We can, but it’s better if you can visit the shop. On the other hand, we understand that’s not always possible. So if you email through as much information as possible, we’ll give you a ballpark cost, and refine the numbers as we go. At least we can get the conversation started, and see where it goes from there.

Picture frames

What can you put in picture frames?

Anything you like. Seriously. An old shoe, a book or an ancient manuscript. If you’re not sure, bring it in we’ll let you know if you’re crazy - or not.

What’s actually worth putting in picture frames?

Anything that’s important to you. Whether it’s a beautiful piece of art, an old photograph or a finger painting. If it means something to you, it means something to us, and we’ll frame it.

How quickly can you frame a picture, or anything else for that matter?

We can turn around pretty quickly if needs be, but it’s usually 10-14 days for most picture frames. There are over 2000 mouldings available, which is too many to stock so we have to order in, wait for it to arrive, then manufacture and fit the picture to the frame.

Can you reframe an out-dated picture frame?

Yes indeed. In fact we do quite a lot of this. Whether you’ve moved house and your picture frames don’t match anymore, or your tastes have changed over the years. We can help.

Do you carry ready-made frames?

I’m afraid not. We make custom picture frames, tailored to the artwork, and then secure the picture with traditional hinging methods.  Ready-made frames are available at Ikea, Spotlight, Officeworks and Kmart. More locally at Foto First, in Church St, Brighton, and you can get high quality Australian frames at Frames Readymade, in East Brunswick.

How much does it cost to frame a picture?

It’s more than buying an off-the shelf picture frame, but considering how long it will last, probably not as expensive as you think. If you want an estimate just bring your picture in, and we’ll figure it out. Or if you want to email through the details, we’ll see what we can do.

Repairs and Restoration

Do you do picture frame repair?

Yes, depending on the damage that is. If it’s too far gone however, we can source an identical (or very similar) picture frame, or help you select something new.

Do you do picture frame glass repair?

Indeed we do. We’ll open up the frame, clean all the fragments away, cut new glass and fit it to the frame. And it’s all done in-house, so we have complete control over the process.

Do you repair damaged artwork?

Yes, depending on the damage. Bring it in, we’ll have a look and let you know.

Hanging and installation

Do you hang artwork?

Nope. But we know some people who can. Click here for details.

Can you fit a hanging wire to my picture frame?

Yes, although it depends on the frame. Some aren’t strong enough to secure a hanging wire to. Bring it in if you can, we’ll take a look.

Framing photography

Do you print photos?

I’m afraid not. Quality printing is a specialised service, with a wide variety of options available to the discerning photographer. If you’re looking for some guidance in that regard however, we’re happy to help. Give us a call and we’ll point you in the right direction.

What about framing photography?

Of course! Bring in your print, and we’ll figure out the best way to preserve it, and present it to the world.

Can you fit a hanging wire to my picture frame?

Yes, although it depends on the frame. Some aren’t strong enough to secure a hanging wire to. Bring it in if you can, we’ll take a look.

Memorabilia framing

What about memorabilia framing?

Yes, in fact we do quite a lot of this kind of work. For sports jerseys or 3D mounts we recommend local providers who specialise in this kind of mount - Click here for more details…
